Meet the Team

BOA is led by a volunteer team with experience across sport, education, marketing, law, property, planning and project delivery. Together, the board brings the range of skills needed to help move the Dee Street project forward.

Scott Birse
Role: Chair
Scott has a BA (Hons) in Sport in the Community and taught PE for 16 years. In 2013, he founded SB Fitness and now works full-time in health and fitness. He also organises the annual Run Banchory event and brings strong community sport and participation experience to BOA.

Ally Reid
Role: Secretary, Marketing and Events
Ally has an MA (Hons) in Sociology, an MSc in Marketing and a PGDE in Primary Education. She has experience in both business and education, including managerial roles with Marks and Spencer and teaching across Aberdeenshire. She supports BOA with administration, marketing and event delivery.

Tony Stephen
Role: Trustee
Tony has been Minister of Banchory West Church since 2011 and brings strong community insight and leadership to BOA. He understands the important role that sport and outdoor activity can play in supporting the development, wellbeing and confidence of young people.

Graham Reid
Role: Project Development and Funding
Graham is a Chartered Surveyor with a background spanning property, banking, development and consultancy. He has held senior roles including Partner at Clydesdale Bank and Head of Development for the North of Scotland at Savills. He supports BOA with project development, funding strategy and delivery planning.

Sarah Stewart
Role: Legal and Planning / Ordinary Member
Sarah is a solicitor with more than 18 years’ experience in both private practice and in-house roles. She has broad legal expertise with particular specialism in property and planning. She supports BOA on legal, property and planning matters.

Nick Sangster
Role: Cost Advisor / Ordinary Member
Nick is a construction industry professional with more than 19 years’ experience, working predominantly in quantity surveying and project management roles. He brings strong commercial, cost and project delivery expertise to BOA, together with a meticulous and highly motivated approach focused on efficiency and effective team leadership.

Paul Wilson
Role: Social Media
Paul is a retired primary school headteacher with a strong interest in sport and community activity. He is President of the local tennis club, involved with Torphins Golf Club, and active in local broadcasting through River Dee Radio. He supports BOA’s communications and community profile.

Aimee Tennant
Role: Marketing Advisor / Ordinary Member
Aimee is a marketing professional with more than 20 years’ experience and holds a joint degree in Marketing and French. She brings broad sector experience and supports BOA with marketing strategy, brand development and audience engagement, helping ensure communications are clear, effective and impactful.

Jenny Birse
Role: Treasurer
Jenny has a BSc in Speech and Language Pathology together with a PGDE (Primary) and qualifications in Inclusive Education. She works as an Additional Support for Learning teacher and joined the BOA committee in 2024 as Treasurer, supporting the charity’s governance, financial oversight and wider community improvement aims.

Mark Williams
Role: Trustee
Mark is Chief Operating Officer of the Denis Law Legacy Trust, leading the charity’s work in areas of Aberdeen affected by deprivation and regeneration challenges. He brings valuable experience in youth engagement, community development and creating opportunities that help disadvantaged young people progress towards positive outcomes.

George Montgomery
Role: Bowling Club Representative
George had a 42-year career in London with the Metropolitan Police before retiring to Banchory. He is currently President of Banchory Bowling Club and brings valuable local community knowledge together with a strong link to one of BOA’s key neighbouring sporting organisations.

Gordon Humble
Role: Bowling Club Representative
Gordon is retired after a career of more than 40 years in the oil industry, where he held a range of supply chain roles. He is a past President of Banchory Bowling Club and currently serves as its Secretary and Match Secretary, bringing valuable organisational experience and a strong link to one of BOA’s key neighbouring clubs.
